The games
Rivers Casino games, explained simply
Half the confusion on a first visit is the casino words, not the casino itself. This page explains the Rivers Casino floor in plain language, and the game picker below shows when each one runs.

Slots and screens
More than 400 slot machines stand on the floor at Rivers Casino, and not one of them takes coins. The floor runs ticket-in, ticket-out, which means cashing out prints a paper ticket instead of dropping coins. That ticket can go into another machine. Some machines carry a provincial or local progressive jackpot, which is one jackpot shared by a group of linked machines.
Electronic table games are exactly what they sound like: a table game on a screen. The casino gives no count of them. Both the slots and the electronic tables earn Winner's Edge points. Winner's Edge is the loyalty card AGLC runs across Alberta. Each $1 to $5 played earns 1 point, depending on the game, and some games are left out.
The soft keypad: press a game
Pick a game, a day and a time. The card shows whether it is here, when it runs and whether it counts on the loyalty card.
Mountain time. Times run from 9:30 a.m.; a session after midnight belongs to the evening it started.

Four games with a dealer
- Blackjack: a card game you play against the dealer, not against the other people at the table.
- Free Bet Blackjack: a version of blackjack with its own set of rules. The dealer can walk you through how it differs.
- Ultimate Texas Hold'em: a poker-style game where your hand goes up against the dealer's instead of other players'.
- Roulette: the game with the spinning wheel and the small ball that settles into a numbered pocket.
Table hours and minimums
Live tables open at 4 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and close at 2 a.m. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday they run from 2 p.m. to 3 a.m. Sunday goes from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. A close after midnight falls early the next morning, so Monday's 2 a.m. close lands on Tuesday. Holiday hours are not posted, so a call to Guest Services, extension 102, settles them.
The casino does not publish table minimums or how many live tables there are. The minimum is the smallest bet a table takes, so ask about it before you sit down. For that and anything else, extension 104 on (780) 790-9739 reaches the table games manager.
The three-table poker room
In poker, you play against the other people at the table, not against the casino. The room at Rivers Casino has 3 tables. Cash games, meaning the chips in front of you stand for real money, get going at 6 p.m. every night. On Friday the 6 p.m. game is $2-$5, and those two numbers are the stakes.
Fixed room hours are not posted. The casino asks players to phone (780) 790-9739, extension 105, which reaches the pit. The pit boss, the supervisor who watches over the tables, has the details.
Questions from first-timers
Are there VLTs or bingo at Rivers Casino?
Neither one is listed. AGLC lists slot machines, electronic table games and live table games at this casino, and no VLTs. The casino's pages mention no bingo, no keno and no sports betting either.
Do table games earn Winner's Edge points?
Electronic table games do, along with the slot machines. Some games are left out, though. Live tables and poker do not earn points at all.
Can you watch a table before you play?
The casino does not post a rule about watching. Extension 104 on (780) 790-9739 reaches the table games manager, who can answer that before your visit.
What does progressive mean on a slot?
A progressive jackpot is one jackpot shared by a group of linked machines. Some machines at Rivers Casino carry a provincial one, and some carry a local one. This guide does not cover jackpot amounts.
